Dyslexia Certificate Program

What is the Dyslexia Certificate Program?

The Dyslexia Training Institute offers an IDA-accredited Dyslexia Certificate Program. This program is informed by the vast body of literacy research about dyslexia and the structured literacy approach, Orton-Gillingham (OG).  This course offers two ways to participate:

  1. Certificate of Completion.
  2. Full Certification: For those who wish to complete the practicum they will be certified to implement the Orton-Gillingham approach.

The program includes the following five required courses (see program guide for more information):

  • Defining Dyslexia
  • Orton-Gillingham, Part 1
  • Orton-Gillingham, Part 2
  • Orton-Gillingham, Part 3
  • Reading Comprehension, Fluency, Vocabulary and Written Expression

The coursework also includes the following webinars:

  • Executive Function
  • Special Ed Law and Dyslexia

You make your own schedule: All five courses and both webinars are completed online and do not require a specific time of day to be on the class site. However, each course is taught by an expert teacher so that participants have the opportunity for their questions to be answered. The practicum matches participants with a practicum mentor who coaches them through a minimum of 45 sessions with a struggling student.
