President’s Letter

Spring is in full swing with opportunities budding for learning and professional growth. Having just returned from IDA’s national office in Baltimore, I can report that IDA is moving forward with three key objectives: educator training, information and support, and revenue generation to support our mission of literacy for all. On our local branch level, IDA NorCal has repackaged and updated our Experience Dyslexia® simulation kit, which is available for order on our website. These kits continue to be a wonderful resource for educating people on the classroom experiences and challenges of a dyslexic student.

Exciting upcoming programs include EdRev, sponsored by Children’s Health Council, on April 21 at AT&T Park. Look for our IDA NorCal information booth among the many exhibits. Our branch is partnering with David Berg to present “Making Math Real” in Palo Alto on April 28. Finally, consider expanding your knowledge of structured literacy by registering for one of the summer training programs in the Bay Area. The article in this issue highlights scheduled trainings, and you can check our website in the coming weeks for more information. Join us on June 3 at Crissy Field in San Francisco for IDA NorCal’s annual SF Fun Run. This supports IDA’s TeamQuest literacy fundraiser. With all of these offerings, there is something for everyone to become involved this spring. I wish all of you a wonderful season.
