IDA Nor Cal continues to offer its popular six-station 90-minute simulation to requesting groups in the SF Bay Area. Simulation materials are also available as a kit for purchase, allowing organizations to offer the program on their own. This high-energy group activity continues to be a valuable introduction to the challenges that students with dyslexia face in the classroom—and an emotional eye-opener for teachers.
IDA Nor Cal Board member William Patterson recently lead a simulation for 50 members of the San Francisco Unified School District Special Education Leadership Team. In a different twist, the simulation stations were run by high school students from the neurodiversity group at Asawa School of the Arts (SOTA). The experience was “an amazing event,” according to feedback from Jean Robertson, the Chief of Special Education for SFUSD.
