Long-time IDA Nor Cal board and advisory board member Nancy Cushen White, EdD,  will be one of two individuals receiving a newly established award at the opening session of the 2023 IDA annual conference. The Distinction of Service Award was created to recognize an individual who has made a significant contribution as a volunteer in a leadership role for the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) at the local, state, national, or international level. The award is given for work in capacities such as editorial board or committee leadership, program delivery, community outreach, fundraising efforts, marketing and communications, and governance responsibilities. Nancy has tirelessly advanced IDA in many capacities over the years, serving as a board member and annual conference chair, and as editor in chief of IDA’s online newsletter, The Examiner. Among her current roles, she is IDA’s representative to the National Joint Committee on Learning Disabilities, a member of the subcommittee that produces IDA’s many Fact Sheets, and serves on the editorial board of Perspectives.
