2016 WINTER EDITION NEWSLETTER

All firsts begin with some excitement and anticipation, and my first term as NCBIDA president is no exception. I look to my new role with enthusiasm and hope, as we all work together to empower parents and train teachers.

NCBIDA kicked off the new year with a networking brunch in San Francisco to gather members, researchers, educators, parents, individuals with dyslexia, and more. It was wonderful to see the many faces of those who have been touched by dyslexia.

The day was marked by highlighting accomplishments of 2015 as well as noting goals for 2016. IDA President Hal Malchow was the featured speaker and shed light on IDA’s vision for the organization as a whole. The national organization continues to focus on its university accreditation and teacher certification programs. Also, this year IDA is launching TeamQuest, an exciting fundraising venture to raise awareness of dyslexia across the globe. TeamQuest is a fantastic opportunity to support IDA’s mission by running or sponsoring a runner in the Liverpool and/or San Diego Rock-n-Roll Half and Full Marathons. There are a variety of ways to become involved in TeamQuest, so please follow the link on our website for more information.

Whether you have been a longtime active member of NCBIDA or this is your “first” year as a member, the time is right to become engaged.

Carr
Sincerely,
Cawley Carr
NCBIDA President
