Summer is a perfect time for rest, relaxation—and adding skills to your teacher’s toolbox. Northern California will host several research-based multisensory structured language education (MSLE) training programs this summer, where you can learn how to systematically teach reading, writing, and spelling. This type of instruction is helpful to all students, but it is essential for struggling learners. Click on the links for more details.

San Francisco Friends School

Scholarship Support. Slingerland trainings include a supervised teaching practicum, which is a requirement of trainings approved by the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC). Because they meet IMSLEC standards, NCBIDA members can apply for a scholarship to help offset the costs of the training.

Wilson Language Trainings. NCBIDA is co-sponsoring two Wilson Language trainings on the Peninsula this summer:

Wilson Fundations® K, 1, & 2 Workshops. These one-day workshops provide the practice and guidance needed to begin using Fundations at the indicated grade level:
Location: Crowne Plaza, Foster City, CA
July 14 (Level K)
July 15 (Level 1)
July 16 (Level 2)

Wilson Just Words® Workshop. This is a two-day workshop that provides practice and guidance for beginning use of the Just Words system, which is used for grades 4-12 and adults.
Location:  Crowne Plaza, Foster City, CA
July 17 & 18

Please note: Wilson trainings do not include a practicum and are therefore not eligible for NCBIDA scholarship support.
